Okay, allow me to explain.

I'm sure you know by now (and if you don't then please come out from the rock you've been under since November 14, 2009) that the CLG Video Network website is run independent of any outside platform (meaning we run the code on our own servers).

Well, before we got to this point, we were running on the Ning Social Network platform, which, for us, served a great purpose. That is, until they started restricting developer access to the site, and whatnot (this may not have affected you, for the most part, but for the administrators, it was pretty rough to add anything "custom").

Because we were faced with such difficulty in adding custom additions to the previous CLGVN, we decided to jump ship and move to where we are now. We did, however, leave the previous version of the website up as an archive, allowing already registered users to continue to access media on that website.

Fast forward to May of this year, and I get a very disheartening email from Ning.

In essence, the email told me (and any other Network Creators on the platform) that Ning would be doing away with any and all free networks on the platform - the previous CLGVN is such a network - and that Ning would be implementing pricing plans for the networks that wish to stay.

I won't get into how said plans piss me off.

What I'm basically saying is that, in the coming days and weeks, the media from the previous version of the CLGVN - http://clgvideonet.ning.com - will be backed up and once the backup is completed, the site will be shut down.

I am happy to say, however, that none of the media that was uploaded to the previous CLGVN will be lost. I have a backup copy of every LSN ever uploaded to the old site, and, at request, will be distributing copies of a user's media to them. (More info on that when the time comes, as the backup isn't complete just yet.)

So, in the meantime, the previous website is still functional, so go ahead and check it out if you're able. I will be posting another one of these blogs when the time comes to pull the plug, and I will give plenty of warning as to when that will be.
